Steven Prouty was raised in the Detroit area and was fed at an early age with heavy doses of Motown Sound. In his travels, Steven has lived and played in Oregon and in New England and of course in the Dallas area gaining exposure to a wide variety of styles music and playing. He is a percussionist: a professional performer and studio musician…that is when he is not fully engaged in his other professional area of study which plays an important role in how he teaches music.
Steven Prouty recently completed his doctorate in clinical psychology at Antioch University New England. Dr. Prouty is an expert in Waldorf Education, a system that he uses to build learning upon the student’s imagination, interweaving artistic, practical and conceptual thinking into the learning process. This is a science of exploration that continually builds an eagerness on the part of the student. In his post-doc studies, Steven researched the relationship between musical group involvement and Positive Youth Development with the support or UNT’s College of Music.
Steven Prouty teaches drums at Bonduris Music and plays in the North Texas area with Le Not So Hot Klub du Denton and Oui Bis.
